Another class

You know I'm a sucker for online classes, some I embrace completely and finish them - Shimelle's - Go to Press is a good example where I did all but one layout. On the other hand Cheryl's photography class I didn't do a thing other than read the first two handouts. However I have all the handouts to refer back to.

So what have I signed up for now? Starting 1 January I am doing Cathy Zielske's class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Tracey just spotted my pre-class layout whilst she was here collecting some gooides, so I thought I should share it with you.

All of the pages are on kraft cardstock so I may or may not need to buy some before the class is over. Each class has three layouts per week, on your choice of subject but one of the layouts each week is using pre determined colours otherwise you can choose your own subject and colour for each layout. The whole course is looking at design principles, including one week on the scarey subject of white space. There's more about the class at http://cathyzielske.typepad.com/my_weblog/

December crop

Catching up today. A busy day with a little service for Beaulieu feast day for Beaulieu alumni and friends. No idea where Kathryn was as she was meant to be there. Then girls have a half day so E's friend came with us to do a quick Co-op shop. Quick trip to see Val en route to the consultant as E has some toys she wants to sell. After consultant some time to put our feet up before M comes home and it's time to head to music. Last thing for the day is a committee meeting which is a shame as I had an invite to a charity do at Royal Yacht in which E's best freind is performing.

Only a week until the deadline for the Scrapagogo challenge and I know they have 10 entires so far - two posted here belonging to Maureen and Jenny, five in my previous post and Chloe, Margaret and Liz have also done their pages. Very good odds of winning a fabulous prize.

I also finished 3 of my pages from the Scrapagogo event. The last one I'll keep for New Year's day to quiz my father and aunt about who is who in the heritage photo.

Scrapagogo challenge

What a great weekend we've had with the Scrapagogo girls. Five full on classes with varied techniques and products, add to that Jennie's fabulous chocolate cake and mincemeat slice, and Ian's carrot cake. Today we had an unofficial Scrapagogo crop. we rented the same hall today and carried on from where we left off yesterday. No photos of the official projects yet, but five of us finished our challenge layouts. The bonus for doing the challenge is a chance to win a place on the March 2010 Gogogetaway. Fab prize. So here are the layouts in no particular order:
Marianne

Joanne

Lorraine

Me

Tracey

And I've just heard that they have landed safely at Gatwick airport.

One for the Xmas drawer

When Elizabeth saw the Promarkers in the Kars catalogue, she said some would be nice for school. A little expensive for school was my reply. However at The Studio blog I've won some Promarkers and Grungeboard for my Briggs Layout so I'm going to put away the Promarkers for Elizabeth's Xmas stocking.

Two more days to go and I have photos for three classes and plans for the fourth.

Designed by Stacy Julian

Another challenge last night (but done this morning) at the Studio Blog was by Stacy Julian. I altered the design slightly by stitching around the heart design to emphasise the shape. The thickers letters were just the right colour to go with the aqua T-shirts worn in two of the photos. All done from leftover photo apart from the focus B&W photo.

Started and finished

Wooweee, great crop despite leaving a box of stuff at thome. I have finished all of the following at the crop including any journalling. So now they can be added to the must put in albums pile!!

Light lunch

The first class from the UKS cybercrop and a goodie. Used the July 2009 Scrapagogo kit which was another plus, it all co-ordinated.

There's no place like home

Especially when there's a cybercrop on. The pre-crop challenge was on the theme of "There's no place like home" My layout is of the six homes I've lived in excluding the time I spent at Bristol Poly. I sneaked a shot of house No 4 this morning. It looks so ugly with the fuel tank at the front of the house.

Hoping to get lots of cybercrop layouts done at Saturday's crop and then it's only a week until Scrapagogo comes to Jersey!!!

Three presents down

I have at last finished sewing in the ends on these three pompon scarves. I bought the wool at C&H Fabrics over half term - I had a yearning to knit. A few hours later and a scarf is finished. The wool is Pompon by Rico. Not available in Jersey yet.

So I have two Christmas presents and a Secret Santa gift finished.

New friends

I found a new source of monthly sketches at The Studio This is my take on the November sketch with a few of the photos taken on my geocaching trip over half term. I only took about 8 photos over the five days, just too tired and trying to keep up with Jane all the time!!

Blogging

Shimelle is running another class and this time it's called "Blogging for Scrapbookers". I'm hoping that by doing the class I'll blog a little more and scrap more too. Don't forget I still have layouts from the last crop two weeks ago in my bag ready to photograph and add to my blog and two need a little journalling.

Details of the class are here http://www.shimelle.com/classes/618/a-new-online-scrapbooking-class-blogging-for-scrapbookers/

Freeze frame

Yet another layout using my Adornit kit. This paper is so bright that I don't think you need a lot to make a statement. Last Pencil Lines sketch for today from me.

another baby layout

Perhaps I should be checking whether these suit the Scrapagogo classes before using them!! This is the Scrapagogo August kit which I bought as a special with the July kit which Joanne has.

Pencil Lines online crop

Pencil Lines is three and they are celebrating this weekend. Here is the first layout I've done from their online crop.

Finished

I have finished my jelly roll quilt and I'm very pleased with it. I'm teaching a workshop on it in January for my local quilt group on Friday, 15 January at Trinity Parish Hall. It needs to be washed now to remove the stencil markings on the back and dried ready for our group meeting tomorrow night.

Love jelly rolls

A jelly roll of fabric arrived on Tuesday afternoon, borrowed a book from a friend as my book is apparently in a depot in Bristol, and less than 24 hours later, I have a quilt top which just needs a border.

A birthday

More adonit

This came together quite quickly as I had the photos ready for last weeks crop and trimmed them and put them on some cardstock on my table. Following day I swapped the cardstock for a lighter green and again left them. Friday I had some free time so added some patterned paper and embellishments from my adornit folder and it was done.

Felling okay today after my day op yesterday, a little dopey, but milking it for all it's worth!! Follow up appointment this Friday.

Time for a swim

Ask Matthew what his favourite part of our trip in 2008 to Egypt was, and he'll say the swimming pool at the Winter palace!! So here's yet another swimming pool layout, using even more of my Adornit prize, a Scrapping Angels flower, a miscellaneous brad and some Thickers.

Saturday's crop

A few missing from Saturday's crop, but we had a lovely day and welcomed two new members. Marianne was doing some lovely layouts with her wedding photos and Lyn popped in to meet us and find out what equipment to buy. We hope she'll visit us next month and that Marianne will also return.

My progress was slow until lunchtime, but I still managed three layouts - two doubles and a single. All of which used the adornit papers and stickers I won, my bargain bag of flowers, my new sticky buttons and my new Thickers from atripdownmemorylane.co.uk

I almost forgot I also used my upper crest punch on the away day layout.

& a few other things I like

Shimelle was very late in loading up the bonus sketch for Go to Press as her new class took priority. So I have now completed my album which I'll bring to the crop next Saturday.

Can't wait to see Jenny's purchases from her recent trip and all her new photos ready to scrap. Hope you had a good flight back Jenny.

Happy mail

Firstly I received a prize from Adornit which includes a new version of their little letters, two sheets of embellishment stickers and lots of paper.

And I've completed day 1 of "Learn something new everyday" hereafter called LSNED.

Learn something new everyday

Here's the front cover. I hope I can achieve more then just that though!!

I have learnt that the Amy Butler butterfly die cut sheet makes a lovely stencil to use with some ink pads on a background.

Final day of Go to Press

Friday was the last day of the 20 unit course of Shimelle's Go to Press class. Despite printing at best quality the image is not as defined as I would like so I may go over the words "appreciate" and "think". The pyramids were as far away from peace and quiet as you could imagine, with hawkers and people. But I loved the trip.

All that's left to do for this class is:
* Consider doing the layout which was about tea and coffee and somehow tweak it
* File all 20 layouts in an album
* Wait for the bonus lesson which has been delayed as Shimelle's husband has taken her on a surprise weekend away before her next class starts on Tuesday.

Perfect dessert

The theme for this layout was "perfect moment" but as Elizabeth and I enjoyed many lovely ice creams in Carnac last week, I thought Perfect Dessert was more appropriate. My favourite was caramel beurre sale. A combination of sweet and salty.

I'm loving the letters cut from corrugated card. As a non coffee drinker, I'm going to have to ask Joanne to collect some more of these cup holders for me. Thanks Lorraine for the loan of your fun serif font.

pretty in pink

Day 19, the earlier one was day 18 not 17. I followed the prompt and layout but not the technique which was to print onto clear adhesive sheets to make your own ribbon.

Lorraine has saved me from tidying my room so am going to pay her a visit to finish day 17.

Day 17

I think this is the day 17 layout from Shimelle's class. Still a little tired but we had a very late and very rough crossing Friday night from St Malo. Got home about 1.30am. As you know I am not a late night person. Can I recommend when you book with Condor Ferries, you let them have your mobile number as we had a text at 3pm to advise that the sailing had been put back from 9 until 11.30.

Saved a lot of waiting around and meant I could spend an extra hour in La Cabane au Perles. Elizabeth and I spent a lovely three hours in there yesterday afternoon on my way back from Carnac. We chose our project and beads on Monday. However I was a bit thrown by the girl yesterday when she said my project would take more than two hours (the length of a class). I think my face told it all and I also mentioned that the owner of the shop hadn’t told me that on Monday. We worked away and Nick even helped us in our projects. I now have an Eisteddfod entry which I’ll bring to Chez Soi on 9 Sept. This Wednesday children haven’t yet gone back to school. The shop charge 5 Euros for the atelier on top of the cost of your chosen materials which I thought was good value. This shop is next to the art and quilting shops in Montgermont. Here’s the website but I can’t see the necklace I made in their gallery. Probably just as well!! http://www.lacabaneaperles.fr/

I have almost finished the day 16 layout but I want to use some chipboard letters and can't find my sissix alphabet. The box they're in isn't small but I still can't see it. I may have to tidy my rom as Lorraine has Herbie over this weekend and that's the only way my layout's going to get finished.

au revoir

See you on Friday

archirondel

Day 15 of Go to press and I like the bright green of the printed elements. I busy baking cupcakes for a WI competition. They are vanilla with white icing, my chocolate and cherry version with chocolate icing and a minstrel, was not what they wanted so the spec has been modified, completely!! However the chocolate ones were delicious.

PLans for today once cakes are done are lunch at Green Island restaurant now they have a fixed price menu, it's an even more attractive proposition, Matthew to be packed and sent off to Air Cadet camp, and some banking and recycling.

Mr Blue Sky

But not here at the moment, but certainly at this away day I helped at in July.

Day 13

Forgot to post this before we dashed out the door to the beauticians this morning. Elizabeth had a mini facial and a manicure whilst the face mask dried. She als o got gievn some spray on skin tonic and some nail varnish. That's shameless enticing of a new client. LOL Unfortunately she doesn't have money of her own so it will be an irregular treat.

Day 11

As promised here's day 11 which was all about stitching on the printable images. Something I can do. I also used the lovely zig zag felt ribbon which Fiona has just given me for my birthday and also a Wii exercise game (is there a hint there?) Good for days I don't go to the gym, but first we have to get a replacement battery for the Wii and get the original battery out.

Freeze Frame

Here's day 12 of Shimelle's Go to Press class which I made with my August Scrapagogo kit. Everything apart from the alphas and printables are from the kit. Again the corrugated card is from a coffee cup holder.

You may be wondering where Day 11 is, give me an hour and I'll be back with it. We popped out to have lunch at Le Braye with the lovely family who retrieved my lost hire car keys in Guernsey and the postie decided to deliver my scrapagogo kit then, so I'm going to put it together today. the photos and printables are printed and the papers are chosen, so in theory it shouldn't take too long!!!

Friday's layout

Firstly here is the third layout I completed yesterday. I'm particularly pleased with the letters which I cut from a cup holder from a sandwich bar and my quickutz. I was going to use my sissix but I couldn't find the lettering I wanted. Goodness knows where they are as it's not a small box of dies!!

Here's today's layout which was printing on the book paper. I used my pearl paint dabbers and draft setting for the printer for the shabby look. Again some corrugated card and a circle stamp I bought ages ago and have never used.
